I am unable to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86. The update starts to install and then says it cannot find files, all previous versions are on system. It leaves a flashing install windows that has to be closed then opens a .net window that has to be closed.

Dec 21, 2018 · Windows Server 2016 (all editions) includes the .NET Framework 4.6.2 as an OS component, and it is installed by default except in the Server Core configuration. It also includes the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 as an OS component that is not installed by default. The .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 can be added or removed via the Server Manager.

What is .NET Framework? A software development framework. In-place updates occur when two .NET Framework versions share the same CLR version. For example, installing .NET Framework 4.8 on a machine with .NET Framework 4.7.2 and 3.5 installed will perform an in-place update of the 4.7.2 installation and leave 3.5 installed separately.
